Uhoh. . . that’s not good. It’s important to know the signs of a tattoo that isn’t healing well, because an infected tattoo can be very serious. Here are some signs.
If you are having any fevers or chills, this is a sign of infection and you should see a doctor right away.
Redness, now your tattoo is going to be red for a few days, but if it’s not getting any better, it might not be healing very well. Coupled with fever or chills. . . get to the doctor.
Anything that is oozing or pus filled. . yes, infected, go to the doctor.
Is it a little swollen or the skin is a little puffy, possibly it’s become extremely itchy or you’ve got hives? Could be an indication that you have had an allergic reaction to the ink, this can even happen years after you have received the tattoo!. . . also best to see a doctor.
Now your tattoo will scab over because it’s a wound, but once healed, a good tattoo will not scar. Any raised, puffy skin, distorted colours or redness that doesn’t fade, is the sign of a tattoo that hasn’t healed properly. . . and there isn’t much that can be done about this one.
